5. Often,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an argument is a way of taking our frustrations out on those closest to us because we feel safe with them, a way of getting something off your chest that’s meant for someone else. Be aware of this too,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and consider the damage that misplaced anger can do.
4. Maybe you’re addicted to the excitement and drama of an argument. Crazy as it sounds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], argument carries a lot of energy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and can stimulate the release of chemicals that we can get hooked on,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], much as an adrenaline-junkie gets hooked on doing dangerous things (the drug – adrenaline – is the same). It can also make us feel connected to others in a way that we learnt from our parents in childhood, or in a way that just feels vibrant and real.
2. There may be a physical pattern to your arguments. They may happen more frequently when your blood sugar is low (and you feel drained) or when you’re having your period (and your hormones are in flux) and you’re unable to stop yourself. Be aware at these times that your irritation levels are high or your energy is low, and have a strategy in place.
Or maybe it’s not always emotional, and you enjoy the verbal chess game that an argument provides; bear in mind that others may not feel the same way, and that merely being in an argument can be painful and unpleasant for some.
Arguments challenge us to communicate clearly, to make ourselves heard appropriately, to empathise with others and understand where they’re coming from. It teaches us to accommodate difference in others,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and to see traces of their ‘difference’ in us.
Whether we love a good argument or we don’t like arguing at all, this type of low-level conflict is a very important part of our day-to-day learning.
Remember Monty Python’s ‘Argument Clinic’,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? Funny as ever! Watch it here … www.youtube.com/watch,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?v=hnTmBjk-M0c
1. There may be an emotional trigger that causes us to jump to our own defence. If so,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], take a look at the trigger. You’ll often find it has nothing to do with the subject but rather the presentation. ‘You always take my cup’ may have less to do with taking a cup than the sting of ‘you always’!
3. It also helps to look for a situational pattern. You may be more likely to argue when you’re late for work in the mornings,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or during ‘suicide hour’ in the evenings, when homework must magically be done and supper must magically appear. Again, have a strategy in place,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if it means muttering the words ‘not now darling, let’s talk about it over supper’ so that they come more easily when you need them.
Be aware of your own dynamics in an argument,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], take responsibility for how you are, and start to use these conflictual spaces as a classroom in which to grow.
When next you find yourself in an argument, take a step back and take a look at what’s in play for you.

Even so,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there are certain songs that are just perfect as wedding music because they are timeless ballads. These love songs help emphasize the romantic nature of the event. They are absolutely perfect for the new couple to have their first dance to. You’ll definitely need something intensely romantic to dance to in order to celebrate being newly married!
You do have to discuss your song list with your band. Some of the songs mentioned here require a high degree of musical virtuosity and the singers you have hired might not necessarily possess it. Have a detailed discussion with your band regarding your preferences for wedding music so that both parties can come to a mutually satisfying agreement. This way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you can be sure that your guests will have a truly great time and you too will have wonderful memories of the most special day of your life.
Some of the most popular romantic songs do sound over the top or even cheesy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but you are allowed a certain amount of latitude at occasions such as weddings. After all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this is when the average person does expect to be swept away by romantic feelings and get quite misty eyed!

2. At Last (by Etta James)
3. Power of Lover (by Luther Vandross)
4. We Belong Together (by Mariah Carey)
5. Hopelessly Devoted To You (by Olivia Newton John)

9,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I Just Want To Be Your Everything (by Andy Gibb)
10. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic (by The Police)
Your guests will also love dancing to these numbers because they are well-known hits,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Make sure that you add some of them to your play list for your reception,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]; you can be sure that your guests will make a beeline to the dance floor with their significant others,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Think about adding the following beautiful songs to your play list:
People have very strong opinions when it comes to selecting wedding music. In fact, music ought to be selected based upon a whole lot of factors. For instance, there will be a whole lot of restrictions placed on a ceremony that takes place in a house of worship. Similarly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], themed events require appropriately chosen music.

A good leadership development program will identify these people and work to break down the barriers that prevent them from further improving their own development.
By imparting your leadership policies and ethos upon members of your team,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], via a leadership blueprint, it is possible to ensure that your entire organisation runs efficiently and in the direction that you wish it to take. You can be confident that every member of your team is working towards the same goals as you are. Ultimately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the bond within the team will be strengthened by the strengthening of each individual member and this will lead to improved business performance.
Leadership development training can provide your organisation with a team full of leaders and this means numerous benefits. Leaders are people that empower others,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], take proactive action,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and generate high quality work. They are highly motivated people that are loyal, brand ambassadors for your organisation. Therefore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a leadership development program can also be seen to offer these various benefits to any organisation.

Second, drugs create a pseudo-empathic experience among drug users. Although addicts have impaired abilities to relate to other people, they bond with one another in a unique way when getting high. Even though they are not really emotionally in touch with their fellow drug users, they have an experience of being closer to them as a result of sharing the experience of being high. In this kind of pseudo-empathic experience, drug users share a high but are not really in a relationship emotionally or psychologically.
This is where 12-Step programs and group therapy become essential components of a recovery program. Empathy is a skill that can be re-learned through education and hands-on application. Support groups provide regular opportunities for recovering addicts to hear each other’s stories and begin offering support and feedback,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
And finally,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], empathy for others seems to suffer particularly as drug cravings and withdrawal dominate the addict’s emotional state. As they become more and more focused on trying to control the physical symptoms of withdrawal and the psychological cravings, their ability to relate to other people diminishes.
Alcoholics face unique empathy deficits, often struggling to identify even their own feelings, let alone the feelings of other people. A psychological syndrome called alexithymia, which is the inability to identify and describe one’s own feelings, occurs in almost 40% of alcoholics,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], compared with only 5% to 7% of the general population.
When you walk into a 12-Step meeting, one of the first things you may see is a sign that says,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “We Care.” Though short and seemingly insignificant, this message highlights one of the components of 12-Step recovery that makes the program so effective: empathy.
Research shows this observation is a fairly accurate description of what happens during addiction. Although their true self still cares deeply for loved ones, their ability to care has been taken hostage by the disease of addiction.
Regardless of which came first, there is undeniable evidence that lack of empathy is tied to addiction. Just as addiction takes away an individual’s capacity for empathy, that capacity must be restored for successful long-term recovery.
Lack of Empathy Tied to Substance Abuse
In its broadest sense, empathy is central to what it means to be fully human. It allows us to tune into how someone else is feeling and gives us insights into the thoughts, emotions and behaviors of other people.
Empathy is critical to moral development. If you don’t care about another person’s feelings, you’re not going to behave in a moral way to them. And probably the truest definition of evil is a lack of empathy. People can do horrible things to other people if they lack empathy.
What Is Empathy?
In a safe and supportive environment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people in recovery can get honest about what the disease of addiction has taken from them and lay the groundwork to get it back. The process begins with empathy for oneself, forgiving the wrongs they committed while addicted to drugs or alcohol and releasing the shame that stands in their way of lasting recovery. Next,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], empathy extends to close family members and friends, and then to the community at large.
Rebuilding Empathy Through Fellowship
Is this loss of empathy that we see in alcoholism and other drug addictions a temporary state of being or a personality trait? Is it a response to becoming addicted or was it there before?
There is a lot of evidence that empathy is impaired in substance abuse. Research shows that callous and unemotional children are at greater risk for conduct disorder,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], antisocial personality disorder and substance abuse. When these behaviors manifest early in life, they are significant risk factors for ultimately developing problems with alcohol and drugs.
Which Came First: Addiction or Lack of Empathy?
Why do people struggling with drug addiction seem to care less? First, as drugs become more and more important,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the addict is less able to respect the feelings of others because their brain only wants one thing: more drugs. Their entire emotional state becomes focused on getting and using drugs.
In studies of alcoholics who have gone through detoxification or drug rehab,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], empathy is significantly lower than control groups. This means that in the acute period following detoxification, alcoholics are less empathic than other people.
So which came first: addiction or lack of empathy? Research points in both directions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. There is a great deal of evidence from studies of children who later become alcoholics that loss of empathy in many cases precedes drug use,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. There’s also evidence that this loss of empathy is made worse by becoming dependent on alcohol and other drugs.
Why do we have empathy? We know that empathy is associated with morality, altruism, pro-social behavior and cooperation. As humans evolved into tribes and larger social groups, empathy was a way of building social cohesion by helping us understand and sympathize with other people’s emotional states. It made us want to take care of them and treat them well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while allowing us to feel good about cooperating with one another.
One of the principal complaints of the family members and loved ones of addicts is that the addicted individual no longer cares. They have become completely self-consumed and lost all regard for other people’s thoughts and feelings, even the people they care about most.
Many people would say that a diagnosis of alcohol dependence and other substance use disorders is intrinsically characterized by impaired capacity for empathy. In other words, lack of empathy is the result of alcoholism and drug addiction.

Even so, received I continued taking part in, the neurons would have opened more receptors for the neurons included in piano actively playing, strengthening the capability of those people neurons to coordinate exercise,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and all those neurons would have each invited other neurons into your circuit and sprouted dendrites which raise the variety of connections (synapses touching) neurons have with
So the synapses that once fired collectively inside a piano actively playing circuit fell into disuse,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which implies that the neurons closed up the neurotransmitter receptors to the neurons required in piano playing. Or included them in one more process.
You may engage in these without having the expressed goal of enhancing cognitive perform, but several of them may have that helpful effect anyway!"
Your brain is consistently employing all of these tactics,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],all of your time. It really is continually testing out new connections to find out how useful they are really. It then stabilizes the kinds that operate...."
Curious about human brain teaching software programs? Is there anything to them aside from smoke and mirrors? I have been working with four of them, And that I like them, but right here is info from two University of Michigan researchers who present an e-guide which draws on their specialized expertise to clarify within a humorous way that brain conditioning is certainly something we will cultivate. Anything commences inside the mental.
"....one another (a approach named synaptogenesis, literally which means'synapse generation'). Consider of this as several bridges around a river to increase the connectivity among the two sides. If 1 bridge fails or undergoes repairs, other folks can choose up the visitors.
A person is functionality enhancement, another could be characterized as harm management, or restoration of misplaced perform, and the third is prevention of cognitive decline.
Thoughts about your perceptions do modify your daily life, and swiftly. You adjust your hormonal bath having a thought twice as quick as you'll be able to blink your eyes.
After all, thoughts are details. They may be electrical and chemical pulses that modify your brain by their very existence. Mind fitness teaching can give you the resources to change your brain for your superior and accomplish daily life-long human brain health and fitness and physical fitness."
Evans and Burghardt go on to speak about a quantity of crucial things, in fact lifestyle variables, that affect the three principal types of mind coaching,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which includes nutrition, training, rest, sociable exercise, and understanding.

Other approaches involve everyday ordeals, academic amount, commitments to existence-very long studying or sociable support networks.

Brain education packages consider among three sorts, broadly talking.
What Happens in Human brain Instruction Plans,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Anyway? According to Evans and Burghardt,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], our brains are continually engaging in an internal recalibration. Our brains use about 20% of our our bodies each day fuel requirement,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and in an attempt to use it wisely, our brains are constantly making and dismantling circuits inside our heads, the circuits becoming neurons that fire together when a sure task is undertaken.
As an example,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I took piano lessons when I used to be just a little little one, and formed some circuits, but not numerous, whilst I practiced that ability, but I've not performed a piano in 50 many years (50 a century!),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so my mind has most undoubtedly dismantled all those connections. I isn't going to serve me as an organism to maintain all those circuits and also other unused circuits fueled and idling, prepared for motion within the off likelihood that I'll resume playing, which can be lucky for men and women within just earshot of my piano actively playing. That type of idling is often a use up of vitality, so as circuits fall into disuse, they may be dismantled.
Third, neurons can make synapses with other neurons they weren't originally talking to and recruit additional brain cells in to the circuit. Once again, all of these boost the odds that the signal won't get dropped. Importantly, these techniques also raise the stability from the mental circuit, producing it a smaller amount likely to degenerate or get dismantled as you age.
(It's possible you'll have dated your important other for any very long time, and if you created the terms "I enjoy you", your life changed did not it)?
From Evans and Burghardt,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "...Approaches to increase, preserve or recover cognitive operate come in numerous types. Some are equipment you use for the explicit applications of bettering distinct skills,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], like reminiscence, response speed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], vocabulary, pattern recognition, creativity or reasoning. This may be the crux of your rising brain conditioning software trade, which can be placing out more and more equipment, attempting to assist enhance these specific skill sets.

This doesn’t happen with smoking: nicotine is expelled from the body in as little as 48 hours. If nicotine were so addictive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people who use nicotine patches to stop smoking should then go to rehab clinics to get rid of the nicotine addiction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but there are no rehab clinics for nicotine addicts.
Smoking is not an addiction, but a habit and therefore it is the mind that needs to be involved if we want to get rid of it. Our conscious mind is facing challenges all the time and this is why - as soon as an action becomes familiar and is repeated several times – the conscious mind stops focusing on it and entrusts it to our “automatic pilot”,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the subconscious. Think of the time when you learnt to drive, or to swim, or to play a musical instrument. At the beginning the whole task seemed to be extremely complicated and very absorbing, leaving no space for anything else in your mind because you were so concentrated on it. Then, with constant repetition, little by little it becomes easier and easier until you start relaxing and – if you drive for example – you manage to listen to the radio or to speak with your fellow passengers. If you play piano you start paying attention to the interpretation and not only to hitting the right key at the right moment. This is because your mind divides the complex task of driving or playing the piano into many small tasks and the simplest ones become automated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which means that you do them automatically,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], spontaneously, without consciously thinking of them. When you were a little child you learnt how to open a door and how to stand on two feet and walk: they were very complicated actions at the beginning, which absorbed you completely, but then they became so familiar to you by repetition that you now do them without thinking.
The fact is that most commonly used methods treat smoking as an addiction, while it is not. An addiction is characterised by chemical transformations in the body. These transformations appear in the physical body and the mind has no power over them: chemical transformations are neutralised by other chemical substances. Addictions also cause serious physical withdrawal symptoms because of their chemically-based nature.

The large majority of smokers started smoking when they were very young, because of peer-pressure, in order to feel more grown-up and ‘cool’. Things,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however, have changed dramatically in recent years and our society now sees smoking for what it is: a very harmful habit which can lead to a painful and premature death. It is also costly, at a time when people are trying to cut down on expenses. Smoking is antisocial; smokers’ clothes smell badly and many people are repelled by this.
There are many methods that claim to help you stop smoking but most have very poor rates of success and in some cases they are totally ineffective. More and more smokers are trying to stop but often they have grown disillusioned and cynical after various and repeated failures. Drugs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], patches,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], gums: are they familiar to you? Have you really lost all hope of freeing yourself from this ugly habit? Then try hypnotherapy. It has been proved to be the most successful method of stopping smoking, with a success rate above 90% and I shall explain to you why.
This is because will-power belongs to the conscious mind: will-power is what makes us get up early in the morning and go to work because we need an income, even if we would prefer to sleep longer. Desire comes from the subconscious and is the force that makes us overcome all sorts of obstacles in order to reach something we want. If you run a marathon it is because you want to arrive first. The key word for will-power is “must” while the key word for desire is “want”. If you think you must stop smoking because someone else wants you to,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but you are not fully committed to stopping, then hypnosis will not help you. However if you really wish to stop smoking,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there is no easier method than hypnosis.
Now think that every time you light up you perform a series of actions which are always the same (opening the packet, removing the cigarette, putting it in your mouth, finding the lighter or the matches, lighting the cigarette ...). Multiply each of these actions by the number of cigarettes you smoke in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year ... and you will see what a strong and powerful habit smoking has become for you. Automatic actions are regulated by the subconscious in order to leave the conscious mind free to deal with challenges and decision-making. Hypnosis is the best tool to reach the subconscious directly and make the changes you need,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], quickly and effortlessly. The only thing required from you is a real desire to stop; you must really want to stop. If you come to me reluctantly, without being committed to stopping smoking, purely because a friend,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], your partner or a relative asked you to do so, you will not succeed.

President Kim Dae-jung exchanged letters with Chinese President Jiang Zemin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Friday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a day before the 10th anniversary of the two countries opened diplomatic ties,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], emphasizing a continuing cooperative relation.
President Kim delivered a personal message through Ambassador Kim Ha-joong in Beijing, expressing his wishes to deepen trust and friendship between Seoul and Beijing as well as the two state heads, and progressive development in future relation. Kim stressed that the progress between Seoul and Beijing is not only crucial for the two countries,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but also indispensable for overall stability and prosperity of the East Asian region.
In the letter Chinese Ambassador to Korea Li Bin delivered to Kim,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], President Jiang noted that the official establishment of Seoul-Beijing diplomatic relations ten years ago opened a new chapter in the two countries histories, and said that Beijing treasures the "good-neighbor" relationship with Seoul,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and would endeavor to improve the partnership in the future.
During the ten years of ties capping half a century of severed relations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the two neighboring countries have not only become closer, but have also enjoyed impressive economic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], social and political developments based on bilateral cooperation. In particular, with strong growth of economic exchanges Korea's exports to China have recorded a seven-fold increase in 10 years.
China has emerged as Korea's second largest export market while Korea has become China's third largest trading partner.
In the field of politics,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Seoul and Beijing held 12 summit meetings during the past 10 years boosting bilateral cooperation between the two nations and this also had a positive effect in improving inter-Korean relations.
Brisk cultural exchanges such as the recent frenzy among Chinese youth for Korean pop culture dubbed the "Korean Wave" have also helped to bring the two countries closer together,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
However as the number of exchanges has grown so have disputes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], though experts say Seoul and Beijing should make efforts to overcome this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and evaluate the changes in the past tens years to make further progress in future bilateral relations.

As a woman, to have your body transformed beyond her control is understandably complicated. While Hollywood mums may maintain that they have never felt more beautiful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is harder for us mere mortals to come to terms with the transformation in life not to mention the waiste line. Personal image may appear vain,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but remains a large factor in a positive and healthy out look in life. For numerous woman this is a huge barrier,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even without the buddle of baby lump stretching your blouse. Loss of control of your body can feel like a loss of control over life and the important relationships in it. While all these feelings are valid and for some become a vague memory, for others an on going hardship which call for attention.
Other external remedies that have been suggested is a new make-up or make-over in a store or an appointment at the nice hair dresser round the corner. This continuation of participating in activities which were constructive before pregnancy can help maintain the new mum feeling isolated from her pre-baby life but rather ease into a new stage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
To be assured and proud of your new body is great, particularly as the weight gain is an inevitable part of pregnancy. Of course, on the contrary,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], women frequently feel embarrassed by the way they look,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not being able to fit in to that fabulous black top anymore is more distressing than you would think! But to combat some of these complications many woman have suggested simple steps to deal with these problems like shopping. It sounds like a horrible cliche, but to come across fitting and fashionable clothes when you have been getting by in stretch pants can do amazing things for your self esteem. There is a swiftly growing need for prenatal clothing which looks great and is practical (that's one thing we can thank Hollywood mums for) and requires to little effort to track down one at your local shopping complex.
In contemporary Western societies pregnancy is considered delightful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and all women are understood to be joyfully happy and at ease with their dreams of motherhood ultimately being realised. Nevertheless,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while this picturesque interpretation exists,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the reality remains that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], no matter how skilled and supported the woman is, the process is draining and exceptionally stressful. Considering this, it is hardly shocking that it can lead the most proud-to-be mums into bouts of depression.
A partner's, family and friends support is very important, however even with all that it merely can create a sense of confusion. "I have a perfect husband and he is so excited about the baby,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I am not," she is also not alone. If talking with friends and trying positive activities is still not making a difference than additional help should be sort. If a local counsellor, or a support group for pregnant woman enabling the individual to chat about physical and psychological problems with woman going through the same changes. Even exercise classes such as yoga and aqua aerobics purposely catering for pregnant woman which provide a social level of normality and relatable woman. Local G.P.s should be able to provide many of these contacts.

One of the trends I dislike in our culture is the reluctance of people to take responsibility, or to respond with care to each other. In my counseling practice, I hear a lot of self-justification,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], mind-reading, defensiveness, blaming and complaining; which is why relationships, friendships,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], business connections and day-to-day living are not going well for that client. Their lives are not about trying to understand their own role in the problem, so they can deal with it effectively, but to push the responsibility off onto someone else, and avoid it.
Adult responsibility is something else altogether. It is really response-ability; that is, the ability to respond to life. Rather than placing blame, this way of thinking acknowledges personal power. Response-ability is the capacity to choose. Out of many possible responses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I can always choose the one I make. Response-ability is remembering to be in charge and make careful, thought-out choices.
Self-control is the only real control you have. However, it is all the control you’ll need. By taking responsibility for your own actions, words, and reactions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you can greatly stack the odds in your own favor. I think of responsibility as response-ability: the ability to respond to life,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people and events. While you may not be responsible for most of what happens,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you are completely responsible for your reaction to what is happening. For example, if you are out with a new person and that person acts in some rude, uncaring or unacceptable manner, You have the ability to respond in many ways.
The problem with this kind of thinking is that each of us gets the results of what we do or don’t do, whether we try to blame someone else, ignore the problem or run away from it. No matter what, sooner or later,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the problem lands right back in our laps, usually made worse by the avoidance. Often, in an attempt to avoid responsibility, we try to control someone else and make the problem theirs.
RESPONSE-ABILITY
If you're over 21, you're an adult—like it or not. That means you are responsible for everything you say and do, and you are in charge of yourself and your life. Love is one of the areas of life where many of us have trouble remembering that we are adults,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with responsibility.
Whenever you’re in a difficult situation, you can react irresponsibly, getting defensive, angry or running away. Many people do this without thinking, and it makes the situation worse. The response-able person will consider his or her options. Think about what your responsibility is in this situation, and take charge of your words and actions. If you respond thoughtfully and with integrity and honor, most other people will calm down and interact with you on that higher level. Being response-able means using all your self-control, skill and knowledge to take care of yourself, even when it’s difficult.
Who’s in control; and whose problem is it?
Most of us feel more comfortable being in control of the situations we’re in,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so much so, that we often pretend we’re in control when we’re really not, or try to control situations that we cannot reasonably handle.
What seems hard at first for most of my clients is understanding the need to take this kind of responsibility. The expression “taking responsibility” is ironically misleading, because actually we have no choice. We are always responding to situations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if our response is to do nothing. It does little good to worry about what other people are choosing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because you really haven't any say about it. Your responsibility is to take care of yourself; no one else can do that for you.
Adapted from: Gay Relationships(Tarcher/Putnam) and The Unofficial Guide to Dating Again(Wiley) © Tina B.Tessina,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 2007
Often, people react to the idea of responsibility as they would to the words “fault” or "blame"; as though saying “you're responsible for your life” means “you should feel guilty about your life.” This sense of responsibility is childlike. It reacts and responds as though an angry parent were standing over you saying "Who's responsible for this mess?".
Remember, you are never in control of another person, even if it seems that you are, and that they wish you to be. You can’t control who you’ll meet, when or where you’ll meet them, how anyone else will feel, or what they’ll do.
When you respond with the best of your ability, and accept and handle whatever consequences you have helped to create, you not only benefit from your choices, but your life and relationships will improve immensely.

Joseph Addison wrote that the blessed hope..."not only bears up the mind under sufferings but makes her rejoice in them." Isaac Watts wrote that Hope thinks nothing difficult; despair tells us that difficulty is insurmountable. G K Chesterton said Hope means expectancy when things are otherwise hopeless. Jeremy Collier said that our blessed hope is a vigorous principle; it sets the head and heart to work and animates a man to do his utmost. The Puritan Thomas Manton wrote What an excellent ground of hope and confidence we have when we reflect upon these three things in prayer the Father's love, the Son's merit and the Spirit's power! Gabriel Marcel said Hope is for the soul what breathing is for the living organism. The Holman Bible Dictionary defines our blessed hope as "Trustful expectation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], particularly with reference to the fulfillment of God's promises. Biblical hope is the anticipation of a favorable outcome under God's guidance. More specifically, hope is the confidence that what God has done for us in the past guarantees our participation in what God will do in the future. This contrasts to the world's definition of hope as “a feeling that what is wanted will happen.” Understood in this way, hope can denote either a baseless optimism or a vague yearning after an unattainable good. If hope is to be genuine hope, however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it must be founded on something (or someone) which affords reasonable grounds for confidence in its fulfillment. The Bible bases its hope in God and His saving acts."
Those who are without Christ are "without hope and without God." Eph 2:12 Believers have no other title to heaven than Christ Himself and the truth that He indwells us, makes heaven as sure as if we were already there. Christ is our hope of glory and the glory of our hope. The world says I hope this or that will happen this type of "hope" is why the lottery system is thriving in many states! Many times we use the word "hope" in casual conversation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it has a wavering, uncertain sound. St. Luke 23:8 Acts 24:26 neither Herod's nor Felix's hope materialized. Most people live in hope that things will improve for them and that they will finally be satisfied. One of the frightening observations of our day is that there are so many, particularly the young, who have no hope. Suicides are on the increase annually, and a recent poll said the majority of teens in our day have no hope for the future. We see so many of our young living recklessly hoping to find satisfaction in the present moment. Our society is characterized by a pervading sense of hopelessness.
We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope. Martin Luther King, Jr. To wish for something with expectation of its fulfillment. To look forward to with confidence or expectation. A wish or desire accompanied by confident expectation. Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one’s life. Thou are my HOPE; O Lord GOD, Thou are my confidence from my youth. Psalm 71:5 Fanny Crosby (who was blind) caught the idea of expectant living in her famous hymn Blessed Assurance. Perfect submission, all is at rest. I in my Savior am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
The blessed hope is the absolute certainty that God will do good to us in the future and includes the idea that we are looking forward to this hope. Our blessed hope is the desire of some good with expectation of obtaining it. Our blessed hope is the totality of blessing that awaits the Christian in the life to come. Our blessed hope in the NT is an expectation of something good to come but it is something we must wait patiently for. Our blessed hope gives us confident expectancy. The nature of hope is to expect that which faith believes. (R Sibbes) Hope is a "confident reaching out for the eschatological future." Hope according to the Baker Evangelical Dictionary means To trust in, wait for, look for, or desire something or someone; or to expect something beneficial in the future. Hope is indispensable for survival and this is especially true when people are confronted by misfortunes, uncertainties, and bitter disparities in life. Hope is faith holding out its hands in the dark.
The Church is not immune to this hopeless feeling. Many who claim to be born again believers in Jesus Christ are searching for fulfillment in life. The truth of Scripture is that we were not made for the present, and the present was never intended to satisfy us. "If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied" 1Co 15:19 We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose Hope is the LORD. Jeremiah 17:7
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (NKJV)
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, " plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV)
For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to give you hope in your final outcome. (AMP)
HOPE defined is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best: to give up hope a particular instance of this feeling: the hope of winning grounds for this feeling in a particular instance: There is little or no hope of his recovery a person or thing in which expectations are centered: We hope that our children will be successful. something that is hoped for: Her forgiveness is my constant hope to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence to believe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], desire, or trust: I hope that my work will be satisfactory to feel that something desired may happen: We hope for an early spring to place trust; rely hope against hope, to continue to hope, although the outlook does not warrant it: We are hoping against hope for a change in her condition.
John Piper writes about the blessed hope declaring that, "This confident hope gives us the encouragement and enablement we need for daily living. It does not put us in a rocking chair where we complacently await the return of Jesus Christ. Instead,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it puts us in the marketplace, on the battlefield,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where we keep on going when the burdens are heavy and the battles are hard. Hope is not a sedative; it is a shot of adrenaline, a spiritual blood transfusion." A study of concentration camp survivors found that those prisoners who were able to hold onto their sense of hope (‘things are going to get better’ or ‘we’re going to get out of here one day’) were much more likely to survive. Hope then is not optional but for these prisoners proved to be a matter of life and death. "But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" 1 Corinthians 13:13
Faith and hope are inseparably linked. We believe and so we hope. Hope is a confidence born of faith. When we have faith in God, we claim His promises, and they give us hope for the future. This blessed hope is an exciting expectancy because God controls the future. When Jesus Christ is your Savior and your Lord,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the future is your friend. You don't have to worry. In hope against hope he believed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so shall your descendants be. Romans 4:18 What does Paul mean by hope against hope? I like Kenneth Wuest's explanation that Abraham’s faith is described. It was both contrary to hope and rested on hope that God could do what nature could not.” People without hope are people without a future. We have a future and a hope. The believer participates in a new quality of life now and which will be consummated when our "Blessed Hope" the Lord Jesus Christ returns. Meditate on your blessed hope, for it is Christ alone who gives us the hope that makes this life worth living. This sure hope is set before us that it might be an anchor for our souls, and a motivation for us to exhibit the same diligence that saints of the first century church exhibited even in stressful times.

The task before Lee Myung-jae is clear. The first hurdle will be revamping an organization that is as broken as can be,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then he will have to take the renewed prosecution and have it clean up the scandals that have turned the country into a mud fight. Liberating the people to some degree,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or other,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from the stench of public servants and gangsters in bed together and running the backbone agencies of the state would be the best response to the high hopes already invested in Lee. The question of whether all the many scandals and suspicions will be taken from the prosecution and handed to specially commissioned prosecutors,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who are independent of the organization depends entirely on Lee's performance and resolve.
The key to renewal of the prosecution will be the personnel management practices there. The fundamental reason the prosecution has fallen to the state it finds itself in today is clearly because of the current government's habit of making unqualified appointments,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and so the solution should be equally clear. He need not search the president or his men for hints on how to proceed, as has been the case with his many predecessors. This is the first time in 39 years that someone from this far outside the establishment has been appointed to this position,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so he has relatively more room to work with compared to the others. The people who work under him have to be positioned in a way that maximizes the prosecution's investigative abilities, and should not be used in any numeric distribution program that invites accusations of 'reverse discrimination.'
Both the ruling and opposition parties are welcoming Lee's appointment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a welcome development indeed. The politicians should not stop there,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but work together on the holding of confirmation hearings for the supreme public prosecutor general,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a permanent format for a special prosecutor, and other long-term plans to assure the neutrality of the prosecution. There needs to be a framework set in place by which future governments and presidents are unable to even try to own the prosecution,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whatever their temptations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this so as to guarantee the same mistakes are not repeated.

An interesting thing happens to our brains and bodies when we panic or when we see others in panic mode. Based on the perception that there is danger, our primitive brain takes over from the advanced reasoning centre located in the prefrontal cortex and sends signals to the body that it’s time for action. What’s happening on a biological level is that the amygdala,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an almond shaped area of the brain transmits the message to the body to release powerful hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol so that we can either run away or stay and fight. Our heart pumps blood to our arms and legs often lending us superhuman strength, this is the stuff of legends and news stories about people lifting cars up to rescue trapped friends and loved ones. In order to accomplish this, the system must shunt blood away from our brains, our digestive tract and all other functions of the body not directly involved in fight or flight. Once the danger is over,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], usually fairly quickly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the body systems return to normal. It’s a great system and for the most part it works really well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], except of course if the danger isn’t immediate and/or life threatening and if it persists over long stretches of time.
It’s important to remember that whether the market is bull or bear, that neither a bull nor a bear is chasing you. The economy is like any living organism; it has ebb and flow like the tides and just like the tide,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fighting it or trying to get away from it can drown you. So remain calm in whatever manner works for you,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], don’t react quickly without thought or stop all actions, freeze and bury your head in the sand,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rather, use your self-aware conscious mind and make decisions that work for you, slowly and deliberately go with a sense of flow and most importantly, keep it moving!
The key to staying calm and keeping the economy strong, is movement, not the rapid, instinctive knee-jerk reaction that we see in the fight or flight response, or the “bury your head in the sand” refusal to do anything at all that is the freeze reaction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the slower, more deliberate movement consciously created with clear intention, like the unhurried, measured dance of Tai Chi. Movement away from the perception of immediate danger and the automatic fight, flight or freeze response of the amygdala and into the mindful awareness of the pre-frontal cortex creates the calm necessary to weather the storm without damage to your body or your bank account.
Living Well in a Volatile Economy
Often left out of the fight or flight equation, but equally debilitating, is the freeze response. That’s the “deer in the headlights” thing where panic has caused a complete physical and mental shut-down and you stand in the middle of the road waiting, hoping and praying that the two ton truck coming straight at you has enough time to brake, swerve or miraculously disappear into thin air. Rather than facing it, many people will turn a blind eye and refuse to look at the possibility of impending doom moving rapidly their way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], only to find that had they simply moved out of the way to think for a moment, the answer was simply making that conscious clear-headed choice to move out of the way!
How you create that movement from panic mode to unruffled understanding is entirely up to you, unique to your style, your needs. Many people find that regular exercise and plenty of sleep is enough. For others meditation, counselling, supplements or some form of therapy is required. Once you’ve managed to settle your system down, it becomes much easier to make decisions that work best for you over the long term. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider where you have invested or maybe you’re thinking that you’ve got lots of time so investing now while markets are low and prices are down is a good idea. Maybe you are nearing or are at the point where you are living on your investments and security is paramount so you need to transfer over to a less volatile arena. Even taking a step back to observe from a more objective standpoint or waiting for awhile to see what will unfold constitute conscious choices or movements.
For most people an economic downturn or recession,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is not the equivalent of being chased by a sabre tooth tiger or run over by a truck nor is it a great time for our advanced reasoning creative brain to shut down in favour of surging hormones that make us feel really unwell when they aren’t being burned off fighting or running away.
So what happens when panic of the kind we see today on the economic world stage isn’t burned off appropriately and lasts far longer than most people can endure? Our bodies become overwhelmed, we suffer the effects of anxiety which can manifest as poor sleep, bad eating habits, a significant increase in smoking and alcohol consumption amongst other things,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], all of which lead to poor decision making. Our bodies are simply not equipped to manage the relentless cascade of stress hormones for months on end without respite. The main difficulty with unremitting stress is that it becomes habitual and very difficult to break out of. If we are to safeguard our physical and mental health as well as our economy, it becomes imperative for us to re-activate our pre-frontal cortex, our evolved, creative, thinking brain so that we can make choices from a resourceful, calm and intelligent standpoint rather than rushing into decisions that may be regretted later.
